Rev. Brandon Nichols
Brandon Nichols was born and raised in Great Bridge in Chesapeake where his parents Ralph and Sharon still reside. He has two sisters: Kaylee and Ashley. Kaylee attends UVA and Ashley will be joining her in the fall after graduating from Great Bridge High. Brandon has been an active member of Hickory United Methodist Church in Chesapeake all his life. He was Director of Youth Ministries there and managed a program of around 30 youth.
He received his B. A. from Virginia Wesleyan College in 2012 and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a major in Religious Studies and a minor in History. He was
President of the college’s chapter of Theta Alpha Kappa: the theology national honors society. He was the chair of Marlin Ministries, the College’s student ministry organization.
He just completed his M. Div. from Duke University Divinity School and graduated Magna Cum Laude. While at Duke, he interned as an associate pastor at New Brook United Methodist Church in Roxboro, NC and as a Chaplain intern at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA.
He is passionate about preaching and teaching as well as outreach and mission to the community. While still in high school at Great Bridge, he served as the President of the City of Chesapeake’s Council on Youth Services Youth Advisory Board. Because of his experiences with older adults in a high school job at Lighthouse Pointe Retirement Community and his later experiences with teenagers as a youth minister, part of his vision for ministry involves setting up possibilities for mentorship relationships to grow between teens and older adults. Above all, he is passionate about awakening desire for the Living God within all who will dare to answer the call of Jesus.
